Steve's Jobs: Open Positions at the Council on Foreign Relations

Looking for a great job in international affairs research and journalism?

The Council on Foreign Relations, publishers of the venerable Foreign Affairs magazine, is hiring for multiple positions in its New York and D.C. offices:

Over the summer, we at CR will be putting together a calendar of events, career fairs, speeches, and more in the D.C. area for the convenience of our readers. This "District Events Calendar" will be available only to readers who take the effort to "Like" our site on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter. In the meantime, we'll be posting D.C.-area job openings that we feel our readers would be very interested in, so please be sure to visit us early and often!

See here for CFR's career opportunities site, and here for internship opportunities for undergrad and grad students. They also have an international relations job board for positions outside of CFR. It's like Monster for Foreign Affairs!

Looks like only a couple of the positions above are entry-level (even requiring 1-3 years of similar office or administrative experience), but if you have the interest, education, and qualifications, by all means apply. The Research Associates look like glorified (and office-savvy) research assistant roles - the perfect step into the real world for any college student.

Reading the Foreign Affairs magazine was in fact what first piqued my interest and led me to pursue a degree in international politics. I remember reading about Kosovo, Tehran, U.S. Foreign Policy, the "obligation to protect," and various accounts and interpretations of the rise of the "Asian Century" against the warm light of my bedroom when I stayed at my grandparent's house in North Carolina. It certainly passed the evening time over vacations, and wasn't nearly as weird as the New Yorker magazine - my mom's side of the family is from New Jersey.

The real question is though: Yankees or Red Sox?

  1. Reminds me of when my friends back home asked if was studying "International Relationships." In retrospect I should've been an Asian millionaire matchmaker.

    Wait a second...
