Morning Links: Uniting Monday Haters with the Crazies who Love to Get Back to Work

So in case you started your weekend really early and spent most of it in a blacked out haze with uncomfortable periods of sobriety/hung-overness, I'm sure you are aware that your favorite NFL team just made some pretty big decisions over the weekend at the 2012 NFL Draft. If you're really not happy to be back at work right now, this is probably a pretty excellent thing to review as it can probably get you to at least lunchtime before you have to get into an excel spreadsheet to do some real work. CR is pretty happy with our pick, especially since if it doesn't work the Giants could probably just start a circus.

As for other things that went down over the weekend, NPR discussed whether or not moderate growth good for the economy. Which seems kind of like asking is drinking Natty Light good. Well on the one hand, its better than not drinking beer (no or negative growth), but on the other hand isn't really as enjoyable as a Dogfish Head (real serious growth). [NPR "Is Moderate Growth Good for the Economy?" 4/27/12]

But how does forcing the party (the USA) to drink Natty's when they thought they were about to get Dogfish Head bode for President Obama's reelection? Well, the traditional wisdom among pundits has been that the president's chances were improving with economy. But what if the economy is indeed slowing down? Will the president be able to make the case that without him you'd still be taking shots of plastic bottle vodka? Friday's GDP numbers, might give some pause to whether or not the US economy is really recovering or if it will begin to falter, yet again, in the spring. [New York Times "Rising Fears that Recovery May Once More Be Faltering" 4/19/12]

Well, maybe it doesn't even matter because a whole bunch of assholes just crashed the party anyway and are asking to borrow money to go on their own beer run ("we'll totally pay you back, but probably like 60 cents on the dollar because you know that's better than NOT getting paid back! Oh wait, we might need to pay you less, too"); are drunk and trying to fight everyone. So maybe they will end up deciding how great this party is anyway (Will Europe/Iran/North Korea decide the 2012 presidential election after we all over-analyze the meaning of GDP growth?). [Real Clear Politics "The Election's X Factor" 4/24/12]

Maybe, it doesn't matter because we stopped inviting all the accomplished people to the party anyway, so we were left with talentless hacks. [Slate "Where Did All the Accomplished People Go?" 4/26/12]

Screw it, I'm just going to watch while the party crashes and burns from my great DC view..oh $&*%

Happy Monday, remember there's a reason your desk has drawers - for bottles of alcohol.
